How to use this poker tournament timer

Start with the default eight-player schedule or open the blind structure builder to set your starting stacks, target hours, and level length. Use its Run this schedule button to bring those settings here. Check the first blinds and the next-level preview before dealing. The default opening level is 25/50, with fifteen minutes of play before the next increase.

Press Start when the first hand begins. Pause stops the countdown without losing the remaining time; Start resumes from that point. Next level moves forward immediately, so use it only when the table agrees to skip the rest of a level. Reset returns to the first level and pauses the clock. Sound is optional and must be enabled with a tap.

Worked example: a fifteen-minute opening level

If your tournament begins at 7:00 pm, the opening level expires at 7:15 pm. Pausing for two minutes moves that deadline to 7:17 pm. If the browser goes into the background instead of being paused, elapsed time still counts: reopening at 7:18 pm advances to the correct current level. Scheduled breaks consume ten minutes before the next playing level begins.

    Keep the table informed

Put the device where everyone can see it and connect power for a long session. Agree that a new blind level applies to the next hand, rather than changing bets in a hand already underway. Announce rebuy deadlines separately; this clock displays the schedule but does not manage registration, prize payments, or the dealer’s decisions.

The home poker tournament guide covers those house rules. The HG Poker app’s TV room display handles the clock alongside buy-ins and payouts when you want the game connected in one place. This standalone browser tool remains free and needs no account.

For the person running the next game

Track it while you play. Settle it when you finish.

If you run a regular home cash game, the calculation is only one part of the job. HG Poker keeps buy-ins and rebuys together while you play, guides the final chip count, and saves the result for next time. Start free and see your current allowance in the app.

    Frequently asked questions

Will the clock run with my phone locked?+

The timer uses an absolute end time and catches up when you return. Browsers may suspend JavaScript or audio while locked, so alarms are not guaranteed in the background. Keep the display open for reliable alerts. Where supported, a screen wake lock is requested after Start.

Can I load my own blind structure?+

Open the blind structure builder, choose players, stacks, level length, breaks, and target duration, then select Run this schedule in the timer. Both pages use the same 25–50% blind-increase rules. The settings stay in this browser, not an online account.

    How do breaks work?+

Breaks are explicit ten-minute levels in the imported schedule. The countdown automatically moves into the break and then back to play. The next-level preview shows what follows. Pause the timer if your table needs additional time; a resumed clock starts from the remaining time.

    Why did I not hear a level-change sound?+

Enable sound before play and check the device volume. Browsers require a user interaction before audio is allowed, and some silence background tabs or locked screens. The visual level display and countdown still reconcile from the saved deadline when the page becomes active.

Can I show the timer on a TV?+

Use Full screen on a supported browser, or display the page on a connected screen. The HG Poker app’s TV room display shows tournament timing alongside buy-ins and payouts. Fullscreen support varies on phones; the large countdown remains usable without it.
