How to Track Your Home Poker Game With ChatGPT or Claude

    Updated Oct 22, 2026

To track a home poker game with ChatGPT or Claude, keep the record in a home game tracker and connect it to the AI. Run the night in HG Poker, add https://mcp.hgpoker.io/mcp as a custom connector, sign in with your HG Poker account and choose Allow. Then bring your old games in, ask the questions the app has no screen for, plan a tournament or run a game by chat, in plain English.

The app runs the night. The AI does the rest by chat.

Why not just keep the poker ledger in a ChatGPT chat?

You can type buy-ins into a chat, and plenty of hosts have tried. It works for one night. Then the chat scrolls away, a rebuy gets typed twice, and next month nobody can find it. An AI chat is not a saved record, and it can add up a column wrong without telling you.

The better split is to let each tool do what it's good at:

    • HG Poker keeps the record. The host taps each buy-in and rebuy when it happens, enters the final chips, and the app checks the totals and shows who owes who. Everything is saved for next time.
    • ChatGPT or Claude reads that record. Through the connector, the AI looks up your actual games instead of guessing, then turns them into answers, recaps and group-chat posts.

How to connect HG Poker to ChatGPT or Claude

    HG Poker connector address
    https://mcp.hgpoker.io/mcp
    1. Get an HG Poker account. Sign in with Apple or Google in the HG Poker app or on the web at play.hgpoker.io. Run your games there; that's the record the AI reads.
    2. Copy the connector address. Copy https://mcp.hgpoker.io/mcp. HG Poker isn't in the Claude or ChatGPT directories yet, so you add it yourself as a custom connector.
    3. Add it in Claude. Open Settings → Connectors, choose Add custom connector, name it HG Poker and paste the address. Then choose Connect.
    4. Or add it in ChatGPT. Open chatgpt.com/plugins, choose + and then Add custom MCP server. Name it HG Poker, paste the address under Connection, choose OAuth for authentication and create it.
    5. Sign in and choose Allow. Sign in with your HG Poker account and choose Allow. Only choose Allow when the HG Poker page names Claude or ChatGPT as the place it sends you back to.
    6. Ask your first question. Tap a starter such as Bring my history in, How am I doing as a player or Plan a tournament, or ask in your own words.

What to ask first: the 4 best uses

    1. Bring your history in from anywhere

If your old games live in a notes app, a spreadsheet, a paper scoresheet or a photo of the whiteboard, tap Bring my history in and paste them, or share the photo. The AI asks short follow-up questions about anything missing, like start and end time, location or stakes (say "skip" to leave one out). It catches games that are already in your account, and it asks before matching similar names, like Mike and Michael. Then it shows a preview of every game: money in, chips counted, and whether it balances. Nothing is saved until you say so, and then they're regular HG Poker games. Imported games count toward your account's plan the same way as games you host.

    You: June 4 @ Alex's: Alex in 40 out 75, Blair in 20 out 0, Casey in 20 out 35, Drew in 40 out 10

AI: Here's the preview. Nothing is saved yet. June 4, Alex's place: $120 in, $120 counted, it balances. Save this game as finished history?

Have a large spreadsheet? You can also import your poker history from a CSV.

    2. Ask the questions the app has no screen for

Once your games are in, ask the things nobody can answer at the table. Here's a short example from a demo account with made-up players:

You: How do I do when Mike's at the table?

AI: You've played 9 nights with Mike. You finished ahead in 6 of them, and you're up $45 on those nights.

Ask a follow-up and it digs in: "Am I up since summer?", month by month, by location, by weekday, by stakes, by table size or by seat (seat stats need games with a saved seat draw). Surprise me looks for patterns nobody has noticed, and How am I doing as a player covers your own results across every host you play with.

    3. Plan a tournament

Tell it your player count and how long you have. It suggests the starting stack, blinds, levels and breaks, then creates the tournament ready for Room Display once you confirm. For a cash game, the Chip calculator starter works out each player's stack and whether your set is enough.

You: Plan a tournament for 9 players, 3 hours.

AI: Here's a 3-hour structure: 20-minute levels, one break after level 4. Nothing is created until you say yes.

    4. Run a game by chat

Ask the AI to start a cash game, add a player, record a buy-in, cash a player out or end the game. It confirms each change with you before anything is recorded, and it can't delete anything. At a busy table, tapping in the app is still quicker; chat is handy when you're away from your phone or catching up a buy-in you missed.

You: Start a $20 cash game with Sam, Casey and Drew.

AI: Start a $20 cash game with Sam, Casey and Drew? Reply yes and I'll start it.

    More you can ask

    • Tonight's group text and Our season, Wrapped. A recap with streaks and the biggest swings, ready to paste into the group chat.
    • Schedule the next game and invite. Pick a date and invite your saved players.
    • Pick our stakes and Fair seat draw. Stakes ideas for your group and a random seat order.
    • Who owes who. Open amounts across nights, and "Jack paid me $20" marks a payment received after you confirm. The app's Settle screen does the same at the table; HG Poker never holds or moves money.

    Example prompts you can copy

    Scroll table horizontally →

Ask this What HG Poker looks up
"Here's a photo of our scoresheet from last season." Reads it, asks about anything missing, shows a preview to confirm
"How do I do when Mike's at the table?" Your results on the nights a player was there
"Am I up since summer?" Your results from a date you pick
"Who's my nemesis?" Head-to-head records with each player (Pro)
"How did I do month by month this year?" Your results grouped by month
"Do I do better at Alex's place or at mine?" Your results by location
"Which seat wins the most at our table?" Seating stats from games with a saved seat draw
"Plan a tournament for 9 players, 3 hours." Blinds, levels and breaks, then creates it after you confirm
"How should we split our chips for a $20 game with 7 players?" Stacks by colour and whether your chip set is enough
"Start a $20 cash game with Sam, Casey and Drew." Starts a cash game after you confirm
"Does this game balance?" Money in compared with the chips counted

Free or Pro: what the AI can read

The connector uses the same account and plan rules as the app. On a free account, the AI can tell you about your own results. Comparing players, like head-to-head records or finding your nemesis, needs Host Pro, just as it does in the app. Plans are bought in the iPhone or Android app; see pricing.

Privacy: what the AI can see and change

    • It reads your own account: games you host, plus your own results as a player.
    • It asks you to confirm before every change, and it can't delete anything.
    • What it reads is sent to the company that runs the assistant (OpenAI for ChatGPT, Anthropic for Claude) and handled under their privacy policy.
    • AI can misread a record. Check amounts owed against HG Poker before anyone pays.
    • When you import past games, the optional "who hosted" and notes you give are stored with the imported game in your account.
    • Disconnect any time in the web app under Settings → Connected apps.

The full details are in section 7 of the Privacy Policy.
